Washington, February 14, 2024 – The Sustainable Food Policy Alliance (SFPA) joined over 25 signatories on letter led by the Zero Food Waste Coalition to state our support for the bipartisan Food Date Labeling Act of 2023 (H.R. 3159 and S. 1484), which aims to aims to reduce food waste by establish a standardized dual date-labeling scheme for food products in the United States that have date labels. The letter cites that standardizing and streamlining date labels is one of the most cost-effective methods to prevent the wasting of surplus, wholesome food.
