Washington, July 18, 2022 – The Sustainable Food Policy Alliance (SFPA), which includes global food companies Danone North America, Mars, Incorporated, Nestlé USA, and Unilever United States, has submitted comments on the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health to help inform a national strategy.
SFPA’s recommendations call for:
- strengthening children’s nutrition assistance programs to prevent hunger and improve nutrition security throughout childhood;
- dietary guidelines that provide inspiration for food innovation and account for the connections among climate change, public health, and food security; and
- adequate annual funding for government agencies to engage in comprehensive consumer education, dietary surveys, and research related to healthy diets and nutrition across the lifespan with increased representation of children, and historically disenfranchised communities.
Our comments reflect the work by the Alliance over recent years to improve nutrition security and reduce hunger and diet-related diseases for all Americans.
